Q: How long will I be at sea? A: Depending on your contract: between 3 and 5 months, followed by approximately 2 months vacation. You will of course be able to go ashore when you are off duty and the vessel is in port .
Q: How does the salary structure work? A: This entirely depends on the job offer. Senior Management, such as Hotel Director are usually offered a permanent contract, which means that they are paid annually (also during vacation). Extra benefits include health care, medical cover, etc . Other management usually receives a higher monthly payment but no salary or medical cover during the vacation period. However, there are restrictions on all contracts and you should check with us before signing the employment agreement.
Q: I have heard of tax-free salary, is that true? A: This is a subject which you need to check with your government. Most salaries are paid out onboard on a tax free basis, but there are certain rules and regulations, depending on your nationality. In order to avoid disappointment and large tax bills at the end of the year, call your local authorities for more information.
Q: Will I receive a cash salary or can I arrange a money transfer? A: Depending on the company, there will be a monthly (sometimes bi-monthly) pay-out. Check with the crew purser for a bank transfer document. You can then decide how much money you want to receive in cash and how much should be transferred into your bank account at home.
Q: Who pays for my accommodation, meals and uniforms? A: The cruise company. All meals, your accommodation and uniforms are provided by the employer. You will need to bring shoes, private clothes, sanitary products ,etc. We have a full list of items you should take with you and will be pleased to forward a copy prior embarkation.
